Tenant FAQs
The Head of Household must notify their Property Manager if they’d like to add or delete someone from their lease. Property Managers help tenants through the process. Any new adult household members (excluding additions by birth or adoption) are screened by KH to make sure that they meet KH’s eligibility criteria found in KH’s Tenant Selection and Occupancy Plan (TSOP). Please note that if changes in household composition result in the household becoming over-housed (in a unit with more bedrooms than the household is eligible for), the household may be required to move into a smaller unit or pay their portion of rent plus any difference between KH’s Voucher Payment Standard and the contract rent.
Details on KH’s policy for adding or removing household members are available in the Tenant Selection and Occupancy Plan (TSOP). If you need additional assistance, please contact your Property Manager.
Tenants can apply for a transfer from their Property Manager. Transfers are approved based on need and availability. Households must meet all eligibility requirements for the new unit. Details on KH’s transfer policies are available in the Tenant Selection and Occupancy Plan (TSOP).
Tenants can submit a work order KH 24-hours a day by phone at (603) 352-6161 or online from your property page. Describe the issue and a work order will be created.
Emergency work orders must always be called in and will be responded to immediately. Emergency work orders are those that must be addressed right away. Examples include, but are not limited to, no heat, no hot water, no electricity, water leaks, blocked toilets, smoke alarms going off or not working, or tenants being locked out of their apartments.
Non-emergency work orders are completed within 7 business days, during normal business hours.
KH’s Pet Policy found in the Tenant Selection and Occupancy Plan (TSOP), describes when and where pets are permitted in KH apartments. Individuals with disabilities can request exemptions to the Pet Policy under KH’s Reasonable Accommodation Policy.
The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) protects tenants and family members of tenants who are victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, or stalking from being evicted or terminated from housing assistance based on acts of such violence against them.
If you, or a member of your household, is a victim of domestic violence and are at risk of being evicted from a Keene Housing property please contact Keene Housing at info@keenehousing.org or by phone at (603) 352-6161.
