Determine your housing needs

The demand for housing assistance is very high, so we maintain a waiting list for applicants to our properties and programs. The estimated waiting time can range from a year to several years for some programs.

Currently waiting lists at all of our communities and programs are open.

A few things to know before you apply:

  • Spouses and domestic partners must share a bedroom
  • With the exception of residents at Evergreen Knoll, Meadow Road and some units at Brookbend East and Brookbend West, all non-elderly and non-disabled households are required to participate in our Resident Self Reliance Program and must reside in Keene Housing’s area of operation.

KH provides housing assistance to more than 1,000 people through its housing assistance programs. To begin the process of applying for housing assistance with us, download the pre-application. Please read the information on this website thoroughly before completing the pre-application or attend one of our open application sessions. Please note that some programs may have long waiting lists. Also remember that eligible people may qualify for more than one program. Why KH?

Since 1965, KH has played a vital role in promoting a stronger Monadnock region by providing housing assistance to the community’s vulnerable and low-income populations. KH’s commitment to going above and beyond providing affordable housing has continually set it apart from other similar sized agencies. This year marks the fifteenth year of KH’s participation in the MTW program. The regulatory and budgetary flexibility of MTW has helped KH make great strides in increasing and improving the quality of affordable housing in the Monadnock region, and to support low-income households in their journey to financial security.

To begin the process of applying for housing assistance at KH, download the pre-application. Please read all of the information of the pre-application before completing it.


Complete the Pre-application

To be considered for housing assistance, a complete pre-application must be submitted to KH. On the pre-application, applicants are asked provide information about their total household income, household composition, and current living situation.

Important! You must fully complete your application to have your name added to the waiting list.

You must provide all the information requested, include a current mailing list, and social security numbers for all household members. We will notify you if we cannot add you to the waiting list for any reason.


Return the completed pre-application to Keene Housing

Applications are accepted in person and by mail at our central office located at 831 Court Street Keene, NH 03431 or via email
at All required information must be completed at the time you submit the application.  If you need assistance completing the pre-application, please stop by one of our open application sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. KH will contact you about the status of your application within ten (10) business days of receipt.


Keep us updated

Once you are placed on the waiting list, it is your responsibility to notify us of any change to your mailing address, phone number, or the size of your household. If you don’t report these changes, may lose your place on the waiting list.  To update your information, please complete the Pre-Application/Application Update Form.

Since 1997, Housing Choice Vouchers (HCVs) have been awarded under different special purpose voucher program types to serve non-elderly persons with disabilities (NED).
