Keene Housing & Contractor’s Responsibilities:
- Contractors will plow the parking lots, common areas, and common sidewalks at the end of the snowfall. Generally, you will not have to move your vehicle before 7:00 AM or after 7:00 PM.
- At most properties, when the plow enters the parking lot to clear away all the snow, the driver will blow the horn. They do not knock on doors.
- First, they will ONLY plow the area where vehicles are not parked. If the storm has ended, the plow will clear the entire lot. Your vehicle must be moved so your parking area can be cleared as well.
- The plows will clear down to the pavement as soon as possible after a storm. Until that happens, please pay attention so you know when to move your vehicle.
- Everyone is responsible for clearing off and moving their vehicle. KH and the contractors cannot provide this service for you.
- Maintenance/Contractors will shovel snow and spread salt ONLY on common sidewalks and for all ADA apartments and those with approved reasonable accommodations.
- Keene Housing places salt buckets on all properties around the common areas such as the Community buildings, mailbox areas, handicapped walkways, and bus stops.
- Please do not pull the nose of your vehicle over the sidewalk. This interferes with clearing the sidewalks.
Tenant Responsibilities:
- Keene Housing parking permits are required on all vehicles.
- Vehicles with or without permits that are not moved while the plow is on the property, or in any way interferes with plowing, will be towed without notice by Emerson’s Towing (603-357-1028) at the owner’s expense.
- We ask that you be aware of the weather and prepare for the storms. This includes having a snow shovel available for those properties where residents are responsible for shoveling their entrances. Please see below.
- It is the resident’s responsibility to move your vehicle(s) immediately when the plow operator arrives on the property for the final clean up. If you are unable to meet this requirement, you must make other arrangements such as asking a neighbor, friend, or relative to clean off and move your vehicle.
- In Keene, free sand is available at the lot in front of the City Public Works, 350 Marlboro Street. You must bring your own container.
- The residents from the following properties are responsible for clearing their entry walks/steps and back doors: Bassett Court, Brookbend East & West, Cottage Street, Damon Court, Dover Street, Elm Street, Evergreen Knoll, Forest View, Marlboro Street, McKinley Circle, Meadow Road, North & Gilsum Street, Pine Street, Riverbend, School Street, Stone Arch Family, Water Street, West Street, and Winchester Street.
